I have decided after consuming nearly half a battenberg that it is actually one of my favourite cakes. Maybe one of the only cakes I could actually eat that much with as I feel thoroughly sick!!! Not a good feeling but well worth it as whilst eating my hunk of battenberg for all of 5 mins it felt a little bit like heaven!

I have decided that I am going to make a series of little purses to celebrate the life of Rossi Ice Cream from my hometown Southend On Sea.
I thought these purses could be used for people to save up for their own rossi ice cream.
The purses will include imagery from all the important key points in Rossi History.

Doing all the last minute bits for the hen do at the moment. Hope saturday goes well. Its a tough thing being Maid of Honour. We picked out lace parasols today for the wedding. They are absolutely stunning. They make me think of fashion years ago. Quite Vintage looking.

Dissertation

I decided to do my dissertation on high end magazines. I am interested into going into layout and editorial or shop window design. I am so excited as I have just ordered above magazine which will be one of my case studies in my dissertation. I love the layout and the photography. It is only made in a little place in Gerrards Cross as well...Just around the corner <3

This is a new competition that Malibu have brought out which allows the consumer to decorate the bottle. I love being able to personalise things so maybe a trip to the supermarket is in order for my own bottle.

Separate your waste for further recycling.' This is such an inspirational piece of advertising. I think it is so creative and has such a strong message. I am really passionate about the environment and love doing pieces of work these issues in mind.

So today I was going to go and get some work printed at KallKwik in High Wycombe so I could finish making some of my project for our Self Written Project hand in on Tuesday, only to find out that KallKwik shuts at 12 o clock in the afternoon on Saturdays. Sunday is the day of rest people and students need work printed on Saturdays. Please Mr who works in the wonderful world of KallKwik stay open a little longer. I would be very grateful and it would make one Nicki Smith very very happy. :-D

Erin is also an illustrator who is at the PICK ME UP exhibition. I love these illustration they are so fashion orientated and so visually interesting. Every time I look at the images I find something new each time that I like about them.

Ted Baker YCN

I have recently sent off my work for the YCN competition briefs. I decided to do the Ted Baker ones and have thoroughly enjoyed doing it. My idea was that the twig people were bare whilst their clothes had fallen on the floor. The clothes would be the Autumn clothing line. I also created a stop motion and an actual model of the stick people. I finished it off by making a model of the shop front. Hope they like it. Fingers crossed.

Robert Ryan has recently been exhibiting in the Pick me up: graphic arts fair. I have seen his work around before and even bought my Mum's wedding card with his work on the front. He is such a true inspiration and his work is just beautiful. Even his website is stunning. Looking at his work has made me really want to play around with tiny, decorative and exquisite detail. I am also dying to have this limited addition camera that is sold in Urban Outfitters!!!!!!

Treat your Mum this mothers day....These may be really expensive but my mum would adore a little gift like this....They have some of the most adorable cakes for all occasions. <3.
Cupcake Recipe.
Ingredients

• 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
• 1 1/3 cups sugar
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup Margerine
• 1 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 large eggs

Easy Cupcake Recipe Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake pans with paper liners.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add shortening, milk, and vanilla. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape side of bowl with a spatula.

Add eggs to the mixture. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape bowl again. Beat on high speed for 1 minute 30 seconds until well mixed.

Spoon cupcake batter into paper liners until 1/2 to 2/3 full.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool 5 minutes in pans then remove and place on wire racks to cool completely.

Once cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with your favorite frosting recipe or decorate as you desire.

The future of magazines.

London-based BERG demonstrate the potential of tablet devices to deliver a rich experience for magazine lovers. I think this is great. I started to think that magazines would completely get replaced by the internet and as this is an area that I really want to work in this was a horrible thought for me. On saying this I think this idea is amazing! The thought of combining digital but still in the style of a magazine that can be taken everywhere with you is definitely one I am interested in.

These limited addition cans are designed to raise awareness for the heart truth. the women's heart health program. I think this is so adorable and for such a good cause......I love the illustrations and think coca cola should team up and create things like this more often.

I found this work by Lauren Gray who uses Pyrography which is wood burning and mixed media pieces. I find her work amazing!!!! It has definitely inspired me to give Pyrography a go and to play a lot more with hand rendered things. She teaches herself all of these techniques and the results are fascinating.

What value is placed on creative talent in the digital age?

This is the title for my essay I am writing at the moment. This is the first time i have ever spoken to creatives about my work and my thoughts on situations. Adam Hayes gave me this really useful website and some good insight towards the idea. Before I had such a strong opinion in the fact that hand rendered graphics have been taken over my digital media but his opinion is that both are successful and when put together can be more effective than one of them on their own. He said there is certainly more development within digital media to expand upon and push graphic design (and in turn create further distance between that and the hand drawn) but if design is good then how it is created should not matter.

He gave me this website to have a look at http://www.etsy.com/ it combines hand made items with machinery and also sells all its things on the internet (even down to selling patterns for clothing and sewing so it can be sent to you a lot quicker.....The internet is the 'biggy' in the change with design especially things such as advertising.

We had a project to do over the Christmas holidays which was to create a 32 page book which was all made of photos. I decided that I would take the word home and class it as where I lived which is Southend on sea. People in the world do not really care about what they are doing to the world so I went on a hunt for picture I could take of what's good about Southend and then how people are ruining it!!!

Ok so we had to do a magazine as a group for a uni project and my group decided to do it on Tea. It was such an amazing project and I really found out a lot of things that I didn't know before. One of my pages was all about reading tea leaves and this was one of the first cups that I created to illustrate it.

So this is a shoot I did for our magazine project on Tea! The idea obviously come from Alice in Wonderland and the mad hatters tea party, but we tried to make it a bit more spooky! This went on centre pages so it could be used as a pull out poster!
